How about a warm, tangy, fresh-from-the-oven fruit bake to warm your belly?  Cranberry Apple Crisp is quick and easy and tells us that Fall is upon us!

Cranberries and apples are, of course, a classic combination and finding them fresh and/or locally-sourced is a definite indication that the seasons are changing.  We love the ease with which this dessert dish comes together, offering wonderful flavor and texture combinations that make our tastebuds sing!  Tangy, sweet, gooey, crunchy, nutty…all in one.  Top with some extra creamy ice cream and that’s all she wrote!

  • 4 cups peeled, chopped cooking apples
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups quick-cooking oats, uncooked
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)
