For all you cat-lovers out there, here are (13) DIY kitty-cat projects that will get your attention! From beds, to toys, to outdoor living – these ideas are the CAT’S MEOW! LOL 🙂

When you love your kitty-cats, which we all do, then you want the very best for him/her! And if we can make it ourselves…well then that’s even better!

(13) Ways to show your furry friend you love him/her:

#1) Cat Puzzle: Cats are very curious and there is nothing better than a puzzle to keep them occupied while you’re away. This easy-peasy puzzle box is just the ticket for hours of entertainment.

The Glam Cat

Here’s what you need:

  • One (or more) disposable food containers
  • Utility knife
  • VERY sharp scissors
  • Black marker
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Lighter
  • Small rubber adhesive casters
  • Small cat toys/balls (at least one with a bell – for stimulating sounds)
  • Cat kibble or treats

The Glam Cat

This cat lover started with gluing the rubber casters on the bottom of the storage container to give the box some stability on her hardwood floors. {instead of it sliding all over the place} Next she drew circles on the lid and carefully cut them out. She also took her lighter and melted the edges of the circles down so as to not hurt her kitty-cats paws. Fill it with some toys and treats and you’re all done. Sit back and watch the show! *For more on this project, click here!

#8) Awesome Cat Tree / Ladder: Cats love to perch themselves up in the air…don’t know why really…but it’s still kinda cute. So give your kitty-cat what he/she is begging for. This awesome cat tree/ladder is just the ticket to their happiness! Click here for the full-set of instructions.

#9) Catnip Mouse:  Cat toys are super expensive especially when you consider how quickly they get lost (under a table or bed) OR how ours seem to disappear due to our puppy-dogs who got jealous. Hmm. So, why not make your own catnip toy that will keep your sugar-pop entertained for quite some time. (or until she slides it under the refrigerator) LOL

*fabric (reclaimed is even better!)
*scrap fabric, preferably with a loose weave
*cotton cord (or ribbon, rick rack, or other cords for the tail)
*embroidery floss

Once you have your supplies, click here for the complete set of instructions, including the pattern. She also takes the extra step & “embroidered” the eyes so as to not have any extra pieces and parts that could come off and choke your kitty. SO CUTE!! {and what a great gift for your friends with kitty-cats, too}

#10) Mini Cat Scratching Post: For those of us without a lot of space for those enormous cat trees, here’s a ‘mini’ alternative to keeping your kitty-cat happy and healthy!

Making this mini cat scratching post is quite simple. Here’s what you’ll need to make both the scratching post AND the cat ‘magic’ wand:

  • a medium t-shirt
  • a 15 x 15 inch piece of cardboard (mine was 13×15 and a little wonky)

You’ll need:

  • Wire storage kits (these will also work)
  • Plastic multi-purpose ties
  • Work/garden gloves
  • Wire cutter pliers
  • Plastic drop sheet or tarp for rainy days
  • Accessories and outdoor rug if desired

Click here for their tips and instructions. They offer great insider tips so as to build it quickly and yet keep you safe as well.

#13) Peek-A-Boo Cat Toy: Another great toy to keep your kitty-cat mesmerized and challenged for hours with a treat in the end!

This cat toy is simple to make and loved by cats everywhere. Place a toy or treat into the box and then your cat must then reach into the holes to maneuver the prize to an exit hole.

  • A Cardboard Box: The dimensions of depend on the toy you wish to place inside of it. A long, flat box with just enough height to allow the toy or treat to roll freely is ideal. Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Boxes should work for most toys.
  • Extra Cardboard: We will be placing a cardboard wall in the center of the box to increase the toy’s strength and to break it into two separate chambers.
  • A Ruler
  • A Pen
  • Glue: Wood glue works the best, but any craft glue should be fine.
  • A Cat Toy + Something with a hole slightly larger than the toy, which you can use to trace holes onto the box with.
  • A Box Cutter
  • An Exacto-Knife
