The Glam Cat

This cat lover started with gluing the rubber casters on the bottom of the storage container to give the box some stability on her hardwood floors. {instead of it sliding all over the place} Next she drew circles on the lid and carefully cut them out. She also took her lighter and melted the edges of the circles down so as to not hurt her kitty-cats paws. Fill it with some toys and treats and you’re all done. Sit back and watch the show! *For more on this project, click here!

#9) Catnip Mouse:  Cat toys are super expensive especially when you consider how quickly they get lost (under a table or bed) OR how ours seem to disappear due to our puppy-dogs who got jealous. Hmm. SUPPLIES:
*fabric (reclaimed is even better!)
*scrap fabric, preferably with a loose weave
*cotton cord (or ribbon, rick rack, or other cords for the tail)
*thread
*embroidery floss
*catnip
*polyfil

This cat toy is simple to make and loved by cats everywhere. Place a toy or treat into the box and then your cat must then reach into the holes to maneuver the prize to an exit hole.

Materials:

  • A Cardboard Box: The dimensions of depend on the toy you wish to place inside of it. A long, flat box with just enough height to allow the toy or treat to roll freely is ideal. Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Boxes should work for most toys.
  • Extra Cardboard: We will be placing a cardboard wall in the center of the box to increase the toy’s strength and to break it into two separate chambers.
  • A Ruler
  • A Pen
  • Glue: Wood glue works the best, but any craft glue should be fine.
  • A Cat Toy + Something with a hole slightly larger than the toy, which you can use to trace holes onto the box with.
  • A Box Cutter
  • An Exacto-Knife

Click here for the detailed instructions how to make this great toy using items you already have in your home!
