Gift Idea: Make-At-Home Black Coffee Jelly For All The Java Lovers In Your Life

Instead of gift cards, consider making food gifts this season.  For the person who has everything, Coffee Jelly will be an unexpected and delicious stocking stuffer!

Here’s a gift idea that’s ideal for someone who is hard to buy for but loves to try new foods.  Rebecca from Foodie With Family discovered this delicacy in Honduras and knew she had to make some for her coffee-loving husband.  She tried several different recipes until she finally nailed the right ingredients and pectin.

Rebecca recommends this as a great starter recipe for someone who has never canned.  Using only 4 ingredients, you can whip this up for yourself and some friends.  If you are giving as a gift, make up a card with some serving recommendations such as spooned over warm French Toast or with a Vanilla Scone.  For an extra special gift, go ahead and make some scones and package those alongside!

Here’s what you need to make Black Coffee Jelly:

  • 4 cups VERY strongly brewed coffee, preferably a darker roast
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 5 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup, rounded Dutch gel pectin

Also needed:

  • 5 to 6  8-oz. jelly jars with new two-piece lids.
Visit Foodie With Family for her complete instructions.  Be sure to read the recipe all the way through as some of the ingredients were altered.
