Bisquick Apple Coffee Cake Like Mom Used To Make

allcreated - bisquick apple coffee cake

Remember discovering recipes on the side of the Bisquick box?  This Bisquick Apple Coffee Cake brings back wonderful memories of morning with Mom.

Bisquick has been on our grocery shelves since the 30’s and has saved American cooks hours in the kitchen.  Back then, there was no such thing as cake or muffin mixes, so the idea of “box to oven in 90 seconds” was revolutionary.  You can read more about the interesting start of Bisquick here.

Since Bisquick was a new product, General Mills wanted to help cooks learn how to use it, so they started printing recipes on the side of the box.  One of the most memorable is their classic Coffee Cake recipe.

I have such vivid memories of my Mom making this cake on weekend mornings.  She used to add apples and sometimes raisins and top it with a sweet glaze.  That was a long time ago, but I can still imagine the tender cake, tart apples and warm cinnamon. If it’s been awhile since you have made Coffee Cake as your morning treat, give this a try.  I’m going to whip some up, grab my mug and and give a toast to Mom.
