No Bake Chocolate Biscuit Cake

Long a popular dessert in England, this cake is actually Queen Elizabeth’s favorite.  Now you can eat like royalty with this No Bake Chocolate Biscuit Cake recipe.

Isn’t it nice to have recipe in your back pocket that you can whip up when you want a little something different?  It’s even more satisfying when that dish can be put together with minimal hassle.  While Chocolate Biscuit Cake looks to be a complicated and decadent gourmet dessert, it’s actually just a few basic ingredients and quite simple to make.

 

 

Follow along with Home Cooking Adventure as she shows how to make this delightful treat for which you won’t even have to turn on the oven.  This recipe uses “Digestive Biscuits”, which are really very similar to graham crackers.  If you can’t find authentic Digestive Biscuits (check your grocery’s international food aisle), feel free to substitute.  You can also use a spring form pan if you don’t have one of the fancy clear ones used in the video.  Have fun “not baking”, your Highness!

Here’s your grocery list:

  • 28 oz. Digestive Biscuits (or graham crackers)
  • 1 cup walnuts or hazelnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 2/3 cup soft butter
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
