Homemade Beer Lawn Food Won’t Harm Pets Or Kids

Want a greener lawn?  Just put some beer on it.  Really!  This homemade lawn food makes grass greener and has beer in the mix.

This summer has been a scorcher and our lawn has seen better days.  The brown spots are pretty much starting to take over, but we hate to put chemicals on the grass where our kids and the dog play.

There’s great news from Alexis at Chemistry Cachet.  She is a chemist who is constantly searching for ways to improve her life without potentially harmful commercial formulas.  She is sharing this recipe for a homemade grass food that she originally learned of in college chemistry class.  It combines many items that we already have around the house and her before/after pics really do show how effective it is!  It’s worth a shot!

Here’s what you need to green your grass with Homemade Lawn Food:

  • Bottle of beer
  • 1 cup mild baby shampoo (DO NOT use anti-bacterial)
  • 1 cup club soda
  • ¼ cup Epsom (unscented)
  • 1 cup household ammonia (same as ammonium hydroxide)
  • Hose sprayer with settings
Visit Chemistry Cachet for the complete instructions and before/after pictures.
